Inspired by his father Byron Black, Fort Worth-based drummer, producer, and utility player Andre Black fell in love with music at a young age, specifically the drums and the art of percussion. Drawing inspiration from various styles, and genres of music including Jazz, Funk, R&B, and Rock and Roll, Black delivers a unique style of playing curated by breaking the rules of technicality and introducing a lyrical style of drumming that is full of unexpected dynamic and finesse. Involving himself in the local Dallas-Fort Worth music community as a young teen, Black was a part of many projects, both performing live and in the studio. Black co-owns the North Texas-based independent record label Matte Black Sound Company and records, produces, and offers mixing and mastering services via his own Blackfox Studios.
